I've been wondering for so many years since my childhood about why we most often forget to say thanks to those who deserve:(
Two days back, myself and my friend went to cafetaria around 7 p.m to have sandwich.. The person who came to clean the table was a differently abled..
Once he was done with done with it.. I smiled at him and said "Thanks anna". He too smiled. Though he never expected a thanks for his duty, i was able to find happiness in his face when i thanked him. I felt that a simple thanks could make the people around us feel happy about the job they do for us ..
Other day.. I found a lady cleaning the table at the cafetaria without wearing gloves..
I've never met her anytime before.. A question striked into my mind "would i clean the table if i was in her position?".. My mind said "No"..
I asked her the reason for not wearing gloves, she said it was there at the desk and she would wear it after sometime. I asked her to wear the gloves and clean the table. . She smiled and said ok.
Simple things can bring smile in other's lives.. i wish my friends who read the post can think of saying thanks to those who really deserve it!

A Big Bow
Today, as usual myself and chethu were at the conference room and were preparing (only 10% of the time) using the common systems given to us.. I found that the system performance was very slow.. I raised the issue to our service desk using the portal.
Around half an hour later, the system which i was using was connected to the service desk associate through remote access and he was fixing the problem.
To my suprise, out of 20 GB space available in drive C, only 200 MB was left free. He deleted all the old files in the system and made many changes in the settings of Internet Explorer. Finally, he asked me to restart the system. A big Bow was waiting for me.
By mistake, I gave the option "shut down" instead of "restart". The system got shut down and i had to restart it manually. There was a CPU below the conference table(near me). I pressed the power button to on the system.
The person who was next to me (gave a reaction which we normally give when power goes off when we are working seriously on the system). I thought it was a system problem. He smiled at me and said, "i think you have turned off my system!!".
I apologised to him for the mistake(many many many times). Since, it was conference room and we had more than 6 systems on the same table, the CPUs were not placed in the usual way(near the monitor). Few CPUs were near the monitor, few were below the table and i was confused due to it.
By tracing the wires, we (myself and the associate) found the CPU of my system above the table near me!!
It was an embarrasing moment, but still i learnt not to do anything before i am sure of it:)

Thrilling incident
In our company, every trainee has to take up mfrp (my first real project) as a part of the training. It is mentored and reviewed by one of the associates (employees).
I remember working on the project on the day of review (we hadn't completed the coding).
It was around 7.30 in the morning and i was working on the project at home. That particular day, my mentor was about to come to our office to review our work.
I was in great tension as we had completed only 60% of the work. It was at that moment, the thrill began..
Around 7.45 a.m, power supply was suspended and i had no back up of the work which i did.. Even the UPS tried to test my patience.. it didn't wait for me to mail my work.. System turned off..
I believed power would be back within 10 or 15 minutes within which i could get ready to office. With lots of prayers in my heart, i got ready by 8.10 a.m. But power didn't come back.
Thinking of alternative ways to get the project sent to my mail, i got the idea of borrowing UPS from my neighbour (nisha aunty).
I hurried to their home, and found the anchors (jackie, bruno the pet dogs) welcoming me.. I asked whether i could use their UPS for just two minutes, within which i would transfer the project to USB.
A great test was awaiting for me. My luck followed.. Aunt said that they had not charged the UPS for the past two days.. the chances of their UPS helping me was less.
I convinced her saying that i'll give a try.. She agreed and i took their UPS to our home. Connecting the UPS, i switched on the system. It worked fine.. I plugged in the USB drive and started copying the contents of project to it. The UPS started its music (low battery alarm) by the time copying process reached 50%.. when it reached 90% the system got shut down..
Bit hopeful (was not sure), of the main project coding part transferred to the drive, thanked aunt for the help and returned UPS back to her.
By that time, clock showed 8.35 and with prayers all the way for power supply to be available at the net centre, i hurried with my dad to main road.
Luck continued to follow me that day.. The net centre was closed:) I waited for around two minutes when a boy happened to come from the gym at the second floor(both the net centre and gym are run by the same person). I asked whether he could help me as i wanted to use net. He went back to the second floor and came down with the owner..
By the time, the centre was opened and i connected the pen drive, it was around 8.50.. Luck followed again.. There was some problem opening the contents of pen drive. Finally after many attempts it opened. Browsing through the contents of project in it, i found that the main part of coding was present in it. Quickly attached the contents and sent it to my mail.
Hurried to office with dad and reached there by 9.20:)
Luck really followed me this time. My mentor had some work and he didn't turn up that day. We got some extra time to complete the work and finished it :)
We face a lot of tough situations, but still God gives us all the solutions.. I realised that what we consider as luck or misfortune are in the way we see them:)

Sunset and Rain
Around 6 p.m yesterday, i started from office along with my dad. For the past one week, I've been enjoying the beautiful sunset while travelling along the radial road(pallavaram-thoraipakkam).
I found the sky to be more beautiful than ever.. I imagined lots of creatures on the formation of clouds.. Few of them looked like turtles, dinos, giraffe, elephants etc., The clouds were dark and cool wind was blowing .. The chillness of the wind proved that it was raining somewhere nearby. I was watching the sunset while travelling with my dad.. Suddenly I found sun was hidden by a huge mass of dark clouds, and droplets of rain started falling on us.. It was so chill.. (felt that there was a freezer in the sky) and it started raining:)
The smell of earthern soil (which we call "manvaasanai" in tamil) was very pleasant all the way home..
By the time we reached home, the rain had stopped..
A day filled with tension came to an end with the gracious rain falling on the earth:)

An Incident at the office
Today as usual myself and chethan (the only one from my training who continues to be with me till now) went to have coffee in our pantry at around 11 a.m.
My friend chethu is from mysore. He has been in Tamil Nadu only for the past four months.
There is a little girl who works at the pantry providing beverages to employees.
My mind wanted to have some butter biscuits along with coffee.. I asked chethu whether he would also have some biscuits, he too consented for it.
Immediately, chethu spoke out "akka..... butter biscuit 2 thaanga".. I bursted out with laughter.. The little girl was suprised on hearing his words.. I explained chethan that akka is for elder people.. but she was a very young girl..
Chethu too smiled on hearing this.. The little girl came to us and said "18 years agudhu".. Though this incident made me laugh for more than 5 minutes, my heart was happy that chethu (though he doesn't know tamil) had the thought of calling girls as sisters :)

Recently, I went to a hospital for eye check up. My dad accompanied me to the hospital. I always had the intention of pledging my eyes at an eye bank.
Unfortunately I was not aware of the procedures required for it. It was a lucky day for me. The hospital to which I went had an eye bank belonging to rotary club. Though my mind was silently insisting on pledging my eyes to the bank, I had a small fear whether my dad would allow for it.
But the fear was suppressed by my long desire and I told my dad about my wish of pledging eyes. He didn’t speak anything. But he responded with a smile which appeared blurred to my eyes (because of the eye test). I inferred that he said ok.
I was on cloud nine at that moment. Immediately I went to the eye bank and asked for the formalities to pledge my eyes. The formalities were very little. They asked me for personal details and a signature from parent/guardian. With great happiness and joy I took the form to my dad and got it signed.
I was given a small identity card as a proof of pledging my eyes. That day was one of the most fulfilling days in my life.
The happiness and fulfillment which we experience on doing something good can never be expressed in words.
